What is Reiki?
Reiki is the universal life force energy that promotes healing. Reiki helps to accelerate the body’s own healing process but does not in itself heal. The body has its own ability to heal, but as a result of everyday life stresses the body will fall out of harmony and therefore struggle to heal itself or start to show symptoms of this disharmony in the physical body through pains, aches and emotional disturbances. In order to heal we must not only heal our physical bodies but also, our mental and emotional bodies. Healing only takes place when all three bodies are in harmony. Reiki can help aid in the healing of all three bodies.
What Are the Chakras?
Chakras are the energy centers of the body. At times these energy centers become unbalanced due to everyday stressors and/or our environment. Reiki is very effective in balancing them and releasing any excess or supplementing a shortage of energy. There are seven major chakras, the crown, third eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral and root. These energy centers connect our physical bodies to our emotional and spiritual bodies. This means that if a particular chakra is blocked or overreactive, the flow of energy to the associated organs and tissues will also be out of balance and in turn will eventually result in ill health. The associations for the seven chakras are:
7th Crown- "I channel", associated with consciousness of the higher self, enlightenment, spiritual vision and intuition. The organs associated include: the Pineal gland and the right eye.
6th Third eye- "I perceive", associated with extra sensory perception such as clairvoyance, telepathy, spirit and intellect. Organs associated include: pituitary gland, lower brain, spine, left eye, nose and ears.
5th Throat- "I express", associated communication, self-expression and clairvoyance. Organs associated include: thyroid gland, throat, upper lungs and arms. "
4th Heart- "I love", associated with unconditional love, compassion, devotion and the sense of oneness with all things. Organs associated include: heart, liver, lungs, blood circulation and thymus.
3rd Solar Plexus- "I am", associated with our sense of personal power, our active nature and ability of make decisions. Organs associated include: Pancreas and stomach.
2nd Sacral- "I want", associated with decision making, creativity and how we relate to others. Other peoples feelings are perceived through these chakras. Organs associated include: center of sexual energy, reproductive organs and legs.
1st Base- "I need", associated with the will to live, survival and vital earth energies. Organs associated include: adrenal glands, kidneys, bladder and spine.

What is the role of crystals in reiki healing?
